Sean McBain is a songwriter, producer and writer from Scotland.
Having began creating music as bassist in Aberdeen rockers Stranded, Sean moved to Neilston near Glasgow with his family. He began writing and performing as a solo act and then as one third of Electro Rock trio Stray Saints.
He attracted attention in 2017 when he completed a staggering Songwriting Marathon in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust where he wrote, performed, recorded and produced a new original song every week for an entire year. 52 songs, £6000 raised and a Parliamentary Motion later he took several of those songs and released his debut album Oranges & Angels in the Spring of 2018 under the mononym McBain.
With Oranges & Angels forwarded for the SAY Award, McBain then released a further 5, yes 5, albums in 2018 with ‘Timeframed’, ‘Hyenas’, ‘Retro Future Romance’, ‘Vaqureo’ and ‘The Unnoticed’. Each album tells a different story both poetically and sonically and have been well received by his growing amount of followers.
At the beginning of 2019, McBain has began branching out into the world of documentary film making with his highly anticipated musical documentary; Sons Of Beefy.
The documentary covers the life of McBain's musical mentor and local Aberdeen Legend Phil 'Beefy' Robertson. McBain is to produce the soundtrack of songs written by the collective of Beefy students and will make his Directorial and Documentary writing debut in Sons Of Beefy.
Meanwhile, he is studying a masters degree in Psychology, and gathering experience in order to specialise in the Psychology and mental health of the Songwriter, Artist and Musician.
